Welcome to HMZA

Your local heros when you have a health emergency

Check us out!

Why do we need HMZA

The HMZA is completely stocked with supplies and equipment. It undergoes a mandatory inspection by the Pennsylvania Department of Health adminstered by EMS of Northeastern Pennsylvania every three years. Due to the distance to "local" hospitals and mutal aid ambulances, the Commander and crew have decided to utilize a lot more supplies and equipment than what is required.

Speed

We are right in your community and we can respond fast.

Cost

When you contribute to the HMZA you will never get any addition bills from us for basic services

Service

we have chosen to stock the ambulance with much more that is required to be able to serve the community with any type of emergency right here in the community.

About

Who we are

The beginning

In 1985 a group of residents of Exeter Township, Luzerne County decided that the Township needed an ambulance to respond to emergencies in the Township and surrounding communities. The Harding Mt Zion Community Ambulance Association was born. The Ambulance began running calls in a used ambulance with a few Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT's) and other dedicated personnel.

Activity

We are a 100% volunteer organization, dedicated to serving Exeter Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania and the surrounding communities. We have between 160-180 calls per year.

The Fire Department

The Mt Zion Bicentennial Volunteer Fire Company has been assisting the Harding Mt Zion Ambulance since July, 2013, providing mutual aid for all medical calls in Exeter Township. They assist with lifting, getting supplies, and providing medical care. This is such a great additional asset to the residents of Exeter Township, expediting medical care and transport. The combined effort of both departments has truly made a difference in the outcomes of several of our patients. Thank you, Mt Zion Fire & Rescue.

Frequently Asked Questions

Some general questions that come up from time to time

  • It helps us purchase the extra things we need to help support the community. Upgrade equipment. Supplies for the ambulance.

  • When we do any kind of run we need to offset our costs by charging your insurance company. However, in many cases the insurance doesn't cover all of the costs. When you make a contribution to the ambulance association we wave any of those changes not covered by insurance. Think of it as your secondary insurance for ambulance services.
